On my walks and hikes in the forest and in the dunes of the far Northern California Redwood Coast, Usnea longissima grows naturally in wild places. Known as the “lungs of the forest”, Usnea only grows in the most environmentally clean of places! It is an indicator of forest health to see this growing. My Usnea was harvested with permission and many thanks were given in the old ways, to the plant spirit and the animus mundi.

This tincture has been infused in 100 proof for the last 6 weeks, after going through a sonication treatment for x90min intervals of x30min each. The sonication treatment breaks down cellular walls making the extraction process much more efficient and potent. Add to this process, the water extraction component which pulls out the hydrophilic constituents that alcohol can’t reach making this a true full-spectrum medicine!

About Usnea longissima cited from, “The Lost Book of Herbal Remedies by Nicole Apelian, Ph.D. & Claude Davis 2018

This powerhouse lichen grows abundantly in the coastal Redwood Forest of far Northern California. It is a powerful antibiotic, antifungal, antimicrobial, and antiviral! These are just a few examples given on Usnea’s benefits!

Antibiotic Use Strep, Staph, MRSA, Tuberculosis: The outer portion of the Usnea lichen contains antibiotic compounds that rival penicillin. For gram-positive bacteria like Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, MRSA, and tuberculosis, it works extremely well. Use it topically as well as internally. It doesn’t seem to work well for gram-negative bacteria like E.coli.

Respiratory System, Urinary Tract, Bladder, and Kidney Infections: Usnea helps heal respiratory problems such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sinus infections, strep throat, colds, flu, and other respiratory complaints. It is very effective in healing urinary tract, bladder, and kidney infections. Its antibiotic and antiviral properties help eliminate infections while the immune system helps the body heal.

Disclaimer/Precautions: No known precautions. As always it is recommended that you consult with your doctor before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.
